Terms and Conditions

By enrolling your child at the David Stinson Theatre School, you agree to the following terms. These apply while your child is enrolled and until you provide written notice of withdrawal in line with these terms.

Introduction

Welcome to the David Stinson Theatre School! These Terms and Conditions apply to all our activities including:

  • Saturday School (Ready Set Dance, Musical Theatre Juniors, Inters, and Seniors)
  • Evening Classes
  • Holiday Clubs
  • Private 1-to-1 Lessons

Please read this document carefully. It is designed to help you understand how we run things, what we expect, and how we keep your children safe and supported.

2. General Provisions

  • These terms apply to all classes, clubs, and private lessons offered by DSTS.
  • We may update these terms and will let you know in writing. Continuing with your child’s enrolment means you agree to any updates.
  • A “Term” means one school term. We will confirm Term Dates in writing at the start of each academic year.

3. Attendance, Payments & Withdrawals (All Programmes)

  • Fees must be paid in full by the end of each term. We accept card payments, bank transfer, direct debit, standing order or cash.
  • Late payments incur an 8% interest fee plus the Bank of England base rate. Unpaid invoices over 30 days may be referred to small claims court.
  • If you wish to leave, you must give at least 4 weeks’ notice in writing. You will still be charged if notice is not given.
  • Missed sessions, for any reason including illness, holidays, or parties, will not be refunded. We hire staff based on enrolment numbers. The only exception is with a valid doctor’s note.
  • Late collection fee: £5 for every 15 minutes after pick-up time.
  • All children must wear the official DSTS uniform, available to order on our website.
  • Students should bring a water bottle and nut-free snacks, following any dietary advice we provide.
  • Parents must inform us if someone different will collect their child – email office@davidstinsontheatreschool.com.
  • We kindly ask parents and carers to respect that our policies - especially around fees, refunds, missed sessions, and notice periods - are firm and apply equally to all families. These policies are in place to ensure fairness and allow us to operate sustainably. For this reason, we are unable to make individual exceptions. Thank you for your understanding and support.
  • We may change class times or venues when necessary and will inform you as early as possible.

4. Programme-Specific Information

A. Ready Set Dance (Preschoolers)

  • Arrive 5 minutes before class.
  • Parents may wait in Reception and collect children promptly at the end.

  • Waiting lists are available if classes are full.

B. Musical Theatre (Juniors, Inters & Seniors)

  • Free trial session available (subject to space).
  • Drop-off takes place at the gymnasium or dance studio. Pick-up is in Reception.
  • Students should arrive 5 minutes early. If late, they must apologise and let Miss Jiya know.
  • Children will not be released until we see the designated parent/carer.
  • If a student is permitted to arrive or leave the Theatre School unaccompanied, or to leave the premises during break times (e.g. to go to the shops), a parent or carer must provide written permission by email. Please note that DSTS is not responsible for any student once they are offsite and outside our supervision.
  • A 50% sibling discount is available for Saturday School Musical Theatre only.
  • All students take part in three I-PATH exams per year. Grades 6-8 carry UCAS points.

  • Students aged 16+ may take a Level 4 Teaching Diploma.
  • Students aged 17+ may take a Level 6 Teaching Diploma.

C. Private 1-to-1 Lessons

  • Students should wait outside their assigned studio until their lesson starts.
  • Parents may accompany their child to the studio but must then wait in Reception.
  • No free trials are given, but you can book a single session to try it out.
  • Exams are with I-PATH (acting/singing) or RSL/ABRSM (music). Grades 6-8 carry UCAS points.
  • Students are responsible for their own instruments. DSTS is not liable for damage or loss.

D. Holiday Clubs

We run clubs throughout school holidays:

  • Ready Set Dance: Ages 3–5 (8am–12pm or 12pm–4pm)
  • Performing Arts Club: Primary-aged children (8am–6pm)
  • Sports & Athletics Club: Primary-aged children (8am–6pm)
  • Children booked onto our Performing Arts or Sports & Athletics Holiday Clubs are welcome to switch between the two during the day or throughout the week, depending on their interests. Our team will support these transitions to ensure all children are happy, engaged, and safe.
  • Saturday students receive 20% off – use code: XLF893
  • Book via: davidstinsontheatreschool.com/holiday-clubs
  • Refunds only if 4 weeks’ notice is given. After this, we offer transfers only.
  • We do not accept childcare vouchers. We are not Ofsted registered but follow safeguarding best practice as members of the Out of School Alliance and I-PATH.
  • Children must bring a packed lunch, refillable water bottle, and follow any dietary advice we give.
  • Parents may not stay unless authorised.

Late Pick-Up & Extended Day Charges during Holiday Clubs

  • Standard collection is between 3:00pm and 3:30pm.
  • If your child is collected after 3:30pm without an extended day booking, a £12 late fee will automatically apply.
  • For children staying after 3:30pm, the Extended Day option runs until 6:00pm and costs £12 per day.
  • If a child is collected after 6:00pm, there is a charge of £5 for every 15 minutes, starting immediately at 6:00pm.

5. Performances & Shows

  • All students are expected to take part in our Winter Show (at Leigh Academy Blackheath) and Summer Show (at Greenwich Theatre).
  • Students also perform at The Great Get Together in London Bridge and may be invited to The Collab Theatre in Southwark once per term.
  • Students must wear full uniform for performances unless told otherwise.
  • Participation in shows is compulsory, as it affects rehearsal structure. Exceptions must be approved by the Principal or Vice Principal.

6. Behaviour Expectations

  • We promote positive behaviour and respect.
  • Serious or repeated misbehaviour may result in temporary or permanent exclusion with no refund.
  • Parents must let us know if their child has any special educational needs or disabilities. Failure to disclose this may result in cancellation without refund.
  • Wearing the correct uniform is essential for all classes. It supports discipline, ensures safety during movement, and helps create a focused learning environment. Please ensure your child arrives in full uniform each week, with hair neatly tied back and appropriate footwear for their class.

7. Health and Safety

  • Let us know of medical conditions or additional needs when you enrol or as soon as they develop.
  • Parents must keep emergency contact details up-to-date.
  • Any medication must be clearly labelled with instructions.

8. Safeguarding

  • All DSTS staff are enhanced DBS checked and trained in safeguarding.
  • Any concerns should be directed to David Stinson, our Designated Safeguarding Officer, via info@davidstinsontheatreschool.com.

9. Photography & Media

  • We occasionally take photos/videos for promotional use.
  • If you do not consent, please inform us in writing. Please be aware this may limit performance opportunities for your child.

10. Personal Property & Liability

  • Students are responsible for their own belongings.
  • DSTS is not liable for any lost or damaged items.
  • Our liability is limited to gross negligence and capped at the amount you have paid in fees.

11. Force Majeure

If we have to close due to events beyond our control (e.g. government orders, extreme weather), fees are non-refundable, but we may offer alternatives or credits.
